Well, I got an opinion on this matter,

A good friend of mine from the United Kingdom

Says, I am qouting here for your information people!!
"It's not worth my while working, I would pay High Taxes, Rent, Council Tax etc... And I get Free Travel, Free Leisure, Free Food, Free Housing etc by not working!!"
He says that he is better of living off the state
As they pay his rent/tax and he recieved An allowance
All this for doing absolutly nothing!!

Luck Guy
It annoys me that us others all over the world have to work hard to make ends meet,
IS IT REALLY WORTH OUR WHILE WORKING?
Thanks people!!

Governments have two basic methods for keeping the masses poor. Some they give welfare or disability payments, and provide so much "mommie" help that there is too big a gap between being a dependent and having a good enough job to give up all those benefits. Others, who work, they tax half to death, so that it's not possible to really get ahead. Your friend is in the first category, and you apparently are in the second. They get you one way or the other, unless you join up with them in ripping everyone else off.

In the US it's not the "government" that keeps anyone poor...exactly. Not anymore. A long time ago a private banking cartel called the Federal Reserve (which is as "federal" as Federal Express) was given the monopoly on printing money. The goverment borrows the money from the Fed cartel at a nice interest rate and then passes the debt onto us in the way of taxation. We're a bankrupt country and they hide it from us by eliminating more and more of our freedoms. Does the government keep us poor? They just keep the fraud that's been going on since 1913 rolling...

If you get accepted at Harvard (And you are poor) they will loan you the money and you won't have to pay until you graduate.

Harvard graduates make at least $100,000.00 a year on average and that salary will increase over the years.

There are hundreds of Universities with similar loan programs.

Therefore, the Goverment does not keep the masses poor.

I agree that the system of welfare (speaking from US not UK) is a lose-lose situation in that people cannot afford to get out from under it because of the loss of medical in particular.

But I've heard conservatives say that people on welfare have it too easy for years, and it just ain't so. Don't assume because the government is sending out checks that it is enough to live on comfortably. I've worked with people who had to chose between health care and buying food or shelter. The issue isn't quite so black & white.

Those affected worst are the working poor. They can't qualify for assistance because their income is just a bit above subsistence, and they can't afford health insurance, so they end up losing--virtually everything.

Don't be so naive as to say "get a job". There are hundreds of reasons why some people cannot work. A few bad apples who abuse the system have made life impossible for those who have no choice. And again it is the system that has created the deadlock.

The programs that say 'work first' are like the programs that thought they solved the problem with mental illness by closing all the psychiatric hospitals.

Makes you wonder...

Oh, and BTW, if living on welfare is so great, go for it. Sell everything you have and quit your job and go apply. See how much you enjoy the lifestyle.

Phil Donahue says, "Were all going to hell in a hand basket", when I was a kid that was so famous. Our work ethics, what are they. I know you and I have them. But some do not. Keep up the good work for you and your family. Choosing to take care of yourself and your needs is so empowering. Respect yourself.

In some ways, yes. Especially if government officials are corrupt and steal the government's (aka the public) money.

only if the work benifits you in some way, gives u a sense of fullfillment and purpose, if you are doing something that you believe in, thats what work should be about, not the capatilist version
