I confirmed my credit card and all, but I would like to continue to use my bank account for purchases; however, I don't like the wait and would prefer an instant payment instead of using an e-check

You don't have to upload money ahead of time. There's no wait if you have the bank account set as your backup funding source (confirm that it's set that way) and let PayPal automatically take what they need. The money will come from the online balance first, and the remainder from the bank account.

I always use my bank account through PayPal - it seems to take a few days for the seller to actually receive the payment - between 3 and 5, but it can take up to a week if you need to convert to a foreign currency. Don't worry about the seller thinking you haven't paid, either. When you pay by PayPal, the seller is informed that the payment has been made, and is processing.
