Question:
I just found out someone had a duplicate credit card of mine?

I live in the east coast and received an email from my credit card company tonight about some suspicious charges to my account. So I called the number and they apparently closed my account for me and a new card is being sent. They are going to investigate it because there was multiple attempts to use a duplicate card in California... a place I've never even been.

I'm freaking out! I'm 19 and I've never had this happen to me... the man from my credit card company said I wouldnt be responsible for the charges that did make it to my account...

What do I do? I feel vulnerable to identity theft!

That's very well that you company has identified it.

I don't know exactly what to suggest you besides paying more attention to the person whom you are handing your card. Try to avoid using your credit card in weird places, especially when they do an imprint of your card (old-school method). That's fine to use it in big stores.

Are you sure that email was really from your credit card company? It is very common phishing scam. Did you click on a link or call a number in that email?

If so, immediately call the phone number on the back of your credit card and report it to your credit card company. It is likely it was a scam to get your personal information. You now have exposed yourself to ID theft.

Im fantastically specific there is not any longer something you're able to do from a criminal attitude..you could fantastically plenty basically call and request yet another card and keep it hidden, i think of it may be ok so you might do it noticeably if he's!! yet in spite of the undeniable fact that 2 wrongs dont make a terrific suited! Is there a reason he felt the would desire to decrease it up, does he pay the bill? (oh yeah u mentioned he didnt pay the bill) he probable shouldve talked to you approximately it interior the 1st place, My opinion whilst your married u would desire to fantastically plenty proportion issues with one yet another, no longer consistently actually yet a minimum of information smart with funds. Has he been utilising the cardboard? Now which would be unlawful if he's no longer authorized inspite of his relation to you. Kindof sounds as in case you adult males would have some verbal replace subjects no longer basically believe ones, i'd be fantastically pi@$ed if it have been me, yet there is often 2 factors to each tale huh? good success and need each little thing works out for you, oh and that i'm hoping your hand is okay too....:o)

are you absolutely sure that it was a legitimate email from your actual credit card company? as *that* is a common way of identity theft (sending bogus emails with "warnings" and then getting your personal info directly from you).

to be 100% sure, call the customer service number on the back of your card, or the one on your monthly statement.
