How can I request a REPLACEMENT PIN for a frozen equifax credit file?

Some years back, my wife was a victim of identity theft. We put a freeze on her file, and I'm sure they sent over a PIN which is required to unfreeze the account - either temporarily or permanently. However, we've lost the PIN and cannot find any instructions of where to write and what to send in order to request a new replacement PIN. I know they offer replacement PINS, but am clueless of where to begin. And if you are going to give me a number to call, please make sure it has humans on the other end cause we've already sat through their automated prompts and made it no where. We live in NC (this might impact the cost if we need to mail them $$ for a replacement PIN)

Fraud alert stays effective for 7 years - nobody can view the contents of your wife's file. Don't know where you heard that there is a magic pin number to OPEN the file! But it ain't true. You can write to Equilfax, prove your identity and have the Fraud alert removed. They will do this, but there is no pin number. And this cannot be done online - you may call them at their 800 number and request a form to allow you access to the file, and you may tell them that you want to check it for mistakes and make sure its ok. Its a real b---ch to do this, but its how its done.

I was as frustrated as you up until this morning. They seem to be making their way through the education credit returns. I have a DDD of March 6th since this morning. I seriously thought I'd never get my refund. Someone told me that education credit returns were actually on hold until February 25th, so a lot of people with education credits should get a DDD soon.
