The best place to apply for ur 1st CC is at Capital One they are very good. u might also want to open up a CC at a bank called US Bank they are very good and apply for a Student CC BUT only do it INSIDE at a branch cause otherwise u wont be approved and it takes longer and do it while opening up a bank acct. They will approve u right there AND the limit is $1,000 thats how i started. You dont even have to be a Student to apply for one. GL

DO NOT - REPEAT - DO NOT GET A CREDIT CARD! This is the very LAST thing you want to do at your age. What you need to do is live on less money than you make. Never borrow money for anything. EVER (except maybe a house when you have enough saved for a downpayment) Credit card companies are SCUM! If you fall into the revolving credit trap now, think of where you'll be 5 years from now after you've applied and received your 7th credit card because you went $50k into debt maxing out the other 6! You can literally be a millionare at retirement if you start saving now - even if you save only $100 a month you will have $1,326,952.26 by the time you are eligible to take out your 401k money (at age 59 1/2 assuming 12% return which is the historical average). Believe me, A LOT of people would like to retire a millionare at ALL, let alone 59 1/2!!! Think about your future - by postponing a little bit of pleasure now, living on less than you make and NOT going into debt you can change yours and your family's life for the better - forever!

The most important things banks look for in granting credit is

1. steady income to make sure the bank gets paid

2. Good credit rating, record of consistently paying your credit car debts on time

Getting a regular paying job is essential.

For those who don't have a credit history, some banks will create a credit card account history by having you deposit an amount say $300 into a savings type account hooked up to debit card that allows you to develop good budget/credit card management skills that the bank then uses to assess your credit worthiness.

Then after a period of time where you've made sure to pay the minimum amount in creating confidence with your bank to soon extend a small line of credit say about $300 that you faithfully pay on time without exception so on and so on and so on.

I used this method over the years always faithfully

and without exception to build a total credit line

of many thousands of dollars.

Go straight to a bank. If they ask you your education, tell them that you have been accepted to so and so college. That way, they know that you have some future and will give you a 300 dollar credit card. This is where you start. But, if you havent been accepted, then its harder. But, I would suggest lying to them so that you have a place to start. Then from there, you can build your credit. Good luck bro.
