Question:
How can I find out my credit information from all 3 (or more if there are more) companies?

I don't have a lot of money to find this information out. Whenever I look something up on the internet about it, I keep getting the run around from site to site.

So how can I get a straight answer as to what I owe so I can improve my score?

Go to the site below. You can get your report for free. Your score is not free from any site, including this one. You're entitled to one free report of each credit agency each year. You should space out your requests to one every four months. That way you can keep a relatively constant monitoring of your credit reports. Make one request from one of the agencies, then another 4 months later from another agency, then another 4 months after that from the third agency.

The site below also tries to sell you stuff you don't really need. Just make sure that before you advance to the next page, that you've opted out of any offers.

Roxanne,

You can get all your credit reports for free at www.annualcreditreport.com. However, if you want to see your credit scores-which are just as important, if not more important than your credit reports-you'll either have to pay for them or use and cancel a free trial of "free credit report" service.

Be careful if you go to check your scores. Most "free credit report" sites charge extra for scores or only provide one. A few sites will give you all three, but they are rare. Also, if you do a trial, call the next day and cancel so you don't get billed a monthly fee.

Yes, Dan B is right. www.annualcreditreport.com is the government mandated site where you can get one report for free from each of the three credit agencies per year.

Other options are:

"Free" credit report sites. These give you your report for free (although many only give a one bureau report for free) if you agree to sign up for their credit monitoring service for a monthly fee. The trick with these sites is to get your report and then immediately cancel the monitoring service. May be a bit of a hassle but you can get your report for free this way.

Quizzle.com. This site is operated by Intuit and offers a totally free credit report without any other obligation. They are hoping you will buy some other Intuit product while their but don't obligate you to do so.

Another option is our site, www.morethanacreditreport.com. We don't give you a free credit report - you have to pay $14.95 for it. But we don't trick you into any other programs. What we do, though, is compare the loans you have on your credit report with those currently being offered by lenders in your area. If we find and opportunity for you to save money on your monthly payments (and we usually do), then we will set up a simple exchange so you can trade your current, high cost loan for a lower cost loan.

What makes this nice is that, in your situation where you want to pay off your debt and improve your credit score, we can facilitate this by lowering your monthly payments and making it easier to pay off your loans and the result is that your debt to credit ratio drops at the same time and improves your score.

Good luck to you!
