Yes. You can get one a year from each credit reporting agency (three of them). Look here: http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/conline/pubs/credit/freereports.pdf

I wish people would stop recommending these sites where you have to subscribe to some service to get your credit report.
In 2004 Congress passed a law requiring the 3 credit bureaus to give every one a free copy of their credit report once a year.
That site is www.annualcreditreport.com.

If you contact Experian or whatever company directly it is free. One a year I think...
