I am in the process of joining the Army but the only thing stopping me is gaining a secret clearance... My credit is in the way... I found out that they want to see credit history... They don't care about score that I need to be able to explain my circumstances involved in getting inch bad credit... My question is, is it possible to pay off collections on my credit history for removal of the delinquency completely off my credit report? Is there anyway to enter an agreement with the collections agency to pay off the debt in full for removal from credit report? If anyone can share there experience in this matter I would be greatly appreciative!! Thanks!

Just so you know i hate to tell you this but my professor that is a attorney and worked for a banking and loan.

Said law is one thing but it's kept on actual record for 10 years and that means they look at it for judgement decisions for up to the eleventh year.

Credit cards are in their own way a bit separate from a actual bank loans; have their own standards and ability to make decisions

on giving you a loan.

Pay for Delete agreements are very hard to get from collection agencies and they only work for non credit card defaults like medical bills. You can try, just don't be surprised if they say no. If they agree, get all terms in writing before you pay.

Pay for Delete agreements do not work with defaulted credit card accounts.

- Accurate negative info stays on your credit report for 7 years, starting from the original date of default. If you later pay a default, the items on your credit report will get updated to Paid with a $0 balance and this will remain for whatever is left of the 7 year reporting cycle.

Dont waste your itme with payment plans to collection agenices as these don't turn out well. Don't tell any collection agenices that you need to clear your credit for a security cleaance, if you do they will use this info against you to extort 2 to 3 times the actual amount of the debt.

Just get a payoff in writing and then send them a money order. It will probably take a good 90 days to show it is paid. There in no way to have it deleted from your credit reports.

No. It is not possible to have it removed completely. It is possible to enter an agreement, but it does not do any good. Even if they agree to remove it, they usually don't remove it. They just agree to get you to pay, and then they break the agreement.
